Gotek arrived from Retro Buddys. My nasty install error of flipped power connector (at the mainboard) fed 12V into Gotek’s 5V pin. This cost me two pendrives. Not aware, I tried to reconnect back the struggiling Matshushita floppy drive and the 12V promoted the half-dead drive to full dead. When I realized what happened and reconnected the power right, everthing worked like a dream. Gotek survived and.. I need to ressuply my pendrive stock. Anyway, my Amiga corner - here it begins! #amiga

Susan Morgan, president of SoftView, Inc., appeared in a 1987 “Computer Chronicles” to demonstrate “MacInTax,” a tax preparation program for the Macintosh. Morgan and her husband started SoftView in 1985. By 1990, “MacInTax” had a virtual monopoly on the Macintosh tax software market. In 1991, the Morgans sold their company to ChipSoft, the developers of “TurboTax,” which was later sold to Intuit. Susan Morgan subsequently became an attorney.

As a junior high nerd I had the most ridiculously convoluted setup for listening to tracker music: I had a 286 machine, an OG SoundBlaster, and a Covox Speech Thing. I had player software that could output one channel to the SoundBlaster and one channel to the Covox, so I did that, with one speaker hooked to each, on either side of my bed.

I spent some time today testing almost all my Goodwill-picked monitors and TVs to see if any of them supported 15kHz line frequency. Most didn’t, to my surprise, two did: an Acer and a Gateway. (The Gateway does because it’s literally the exact same monitor as the Acer in a different case.)

Temporarily defeated by this #NeXTcube power supply issue. Running out of time before #VCF #Montreal.

It works for about 15 mins, then shuts down. Fails to start a few times. Then starts and runs for ~15 mins. Motherboard battery is good. No caps look bad. No leaks. Solder joints look good. Seems to fail to latch when it won’t start (12V rail gets up to 9 or so). Fine voltages when it’s running. Reduced load by removing components and same. 🤷‍♂️
